Google Review Ad Extensions – What’s It All About?

Originally dubbed the ‘Don't Take Our Word For It' tool, Google’s Review ad extensions are off beta testing and are now available to everyone! This is good news for businesses that don't yet have seller ratings and want to add credibility to their ads.

The extension, which allows advertisers to display third-party review snippets in their ads is yet another example of Google's increasing focus on trust.  Reviews will sit beneath the description and include a link to the publisher (you won’t be charged for clicks on these). See what all the fuss is about below…

El Al Review Extension

Google used Israel's main airline, El Al as their shining beacon for the extension by claiming that the company saw a 10% increase in click-through-rates. Pretty impressive if you ask us.

What's more is that they're really easy to setup – specify whether the review is paraphrased or an exact quote, plug in the review text, state the source and source URL and wait for approval! And like other enhanced extensions Review ad extensions can be scheduled according to your business needs.

As with all Google extensions, this addition was accompanied by a strict policies that asks the reviews be less than 12 months old, that they are from a reputable source and that they link to different, third-party domain. (the full policy on Review Extensions can be seen here )

If you don't see the option in the Ad Extensions tab, don't fret, Google will be rolling it out in the next few days.
